About me

An illustrator focused on medicine; also a painter and interpreter of the natural world

Always ponder options

I moved to the Seattle area in my twenties and found the closeness of the natural world invigorating. I’ve worked as a designer for over 20 years, mostly at the University of Washington, where I collaborated with professionals in academics, medicine, and marketing. My work experience includes digital and print art production, graphic design, web design, UX design, and illustration.

Illustration lights me up. I love the challenge of helping experts explain complex concepts using clear, easily understood visuals. Many recent clients have come from various areas of specialization within the UW School of Medicine. I find it rewarding to support their research and teaching, which is why much of my work has focused on medicine.

MY ILLUSTRATION PROCESS

Discovery:  Initiate client meetings and interviews to understand the project goals,

timeline, and budget.

Exploration: Gather reference images and conduct research on the subject matter.

Round 1: Create preliminary work (sketches and mockups) to ensure accuracy and

alignment with the client's vision.

Feedback: Review initial work with the client to identify opportunities for improvement.

Round 2: Incorporate feedback to refine the work.

Final: Polish the art and prepare files for publication.
