ZIKA Macaque Model

The ask:

My client, a UW OB/GYN, asked for this illustration to be included with a grant submission; the figure shows some aspects of pregnancy with a maternal Zika virus infection. 

My process:

I used some of the client’s preexisting ‘fenestrated capillary’ and 'fetal brain' artwork, as well as original art and adjustments I created. I painted the macaque fetus in Photoshop and placed it in Illustrator; all other elements were created in Illustrator.

Results:

This illustration was used in the grant application.
